We are a singing couple, currently based in Frankfurt am Main, and both engaged as opera soloists at the Frankfurt opera house.
I grew up in England, attending the local comprehensive school before winning a place at Clare College, Cambridge. I then spent three enjoyable years singing, playing in my own band, playing rugby and socialising, just about getting a degree in music at the end of it. Amazingly I´ve since been invited back for concerts with the choir of Clare.
Two years out in France working the seasons (French alps in the winters, atlantic coast in the summers) led me to a decision to try singing as a career in 1997. Nearly 10 years down the line I don´t regret that decision for a moment.
Swedish-born Anna spent her formative years shuttling between Stockholm and Sydney, before settling in the late 70´s with her family ´down under´. After qualifying as a music teacher she decided the classroom wasn´t for her, concentrating instead on her passion for solo singing. A string of competition success followed, culminating in her winning a scholarship to England for further postgraduate study in 1995. She joined me in the ensemble of the Frankfurt opera in 2004.
When we´re not singing, we enjoy skiing, snowboarding, surfing, going back to the UK to see friends, visiting our family in Sweden, France and Australia, working out which wines go best with which food, and trying to improve our German.
We got married in 2002 in England, and recently (December 2005) celebrated the birth of our son, Thomas Lars. Fortunately he looks like his Mum – in a masculine kind of way.
We hope you enjoy looking at our website. Let us know if you´re coming by the Frankfurt opera house anytime soon.
